Why we built FashionViral

Shopping should be exciting, not exhausting. Yet for many of us, finding the right outfit, the perfect beauty product or a favourite brand means hours of scrolling, driving from store to store and hoping the trip was worth it. We built FashionViral to change that.

Online shopping offers endless choice, but it often comes with long delivery times, uncertain sizing and the hassle of returns. Shopping in store offers the joy of trying things on and taking them home the same day, but it can be hard to know where to go. Our guide combines the best of both: the discovery power of the internet with the real-world satisfaction of shopping locally.

Instead of wandering through a mall wondering which stores are worth your time, you walk in already knowing where to go. Instead of missing a great local boutique because you never knew it existed, you find the hidden gems around the corner.

Who FashionViral is for

People shop for very different reasons, and a good guide should work for all of them. These are the shoppers we had in mind when we designed every page.

  • Trend-chasers

You want the newest drops and the stores that get them first. Our category pages and editor's picks point you to the malls and boutiques where new collections land.

  • Bargain hunters

You would rather pay outlet prices than full price. Our outlets and discount category brings together outlet villages, off-price stores and discount centres in one place.

  • Local boutique lovers

You like supporting independent shops with their own character. We give small jewellers, perfume houses, abaya designers and fabric traders a page as clear as any mall.

  • Visitors and newcomers

You have an afternoon to find a gift, an abaya or a bottle of oud to take home. Each page tells you how to get there, when it is open and what to expect once you arrive.

What you find on every place page

Every shopping place in the guide has its own page. Depending on what is publicly known about it, the page brings these details together so you can plan your visit in a couple of minutes.

  • Photos

Pictures of the place, its shops and its surroundings, so you recognise it when you arrive.

  • Opening hours

The weekly schedule with a live open or closed status, including late-night and weekend hours.

  • Location and map

The address, the neighbourhood and an interactive map with directions from where you are.

  • Parking and access

Parking, entrances, wheelchair access and other accessibility details where they are known.

  • Stores inside

The shops, restaurants and services found inside a mall or centre, where we know them.

  • Scores from reviews

Ratings for store variety, dining, cleanliness, parking, entertainment, amenities and value.

  • Likes and dislikes

What visitors praise and what they complain about, summarised honestly from their reviews.

  • Tips and answers

Who the place suits best, advice for a smoother visit, common questions and similar places nearby.

How we choose and organise places

A guide is only as useful as the places in it. We start from business listings for shopping places and apply the same checks to every one of them before it gets a page:

  • It has a real physical address that shoppers can visit.
  • It has photos and enough visitor reviews to give a fair picture.
  • It is open, not a duplicate and genuinely a place to shop.

Places are then organised in two ways: by location, so you can browse an emirate, a state or a city, and by the kind of shopping they offer, from large malls and outlets to souqs, abaya centres, jewellers and perfume shops. Lists for an area are ordered by visitor rating and the number of reviews.

Our editorial principles

These principles guide every page we publish, and they do not change when a business advertises with us or asks to be listed.

  1. Independent choices

Our editor's picks and independent brands are chosen by our team. No business pays to be included in them or to be ranked higher in a list.

  2. Honest summaries

We report what shoppers actually say, the good and the bad. Ratings and reviews cannot be bought, edited or removed on request.

  3. Useful over promotional

We write for the person planning a visit, not for the business. If a car park is hard to find or a mall gets crowded on Fridays, we say so.

Every kind of shopping, in one guide

From glossy beauty halls and international flagships to busy community centres and traditional souqs, FashionViral covers the full range of places where people shop for fashion and beauty.

Keeping information accurate

We refresh place information regularly and review it before it is published. Even so, shops change: opening hours shift during Ramadan, public holidays and the festive season, stores move between malls and brands come and go.

Before a long trip for one particular store, it is worth confirming with the store or the mall directly. If you spot something out of date, tell us through our contact page. Business owners can ask for corrections in the same way, and we update pages once we have checked the change.
